Whether as a writer, union member, or organizer, I’ve always tried to live my values through supporting people-powered movements for social and economic justice. As a councilor, I’ve been able to support our most vulnerable through expanding tenant rights, uplifting the social and economic needs of people of color as well as the LGBTQ+ community, and fighting for material change to enhance the lives of working class folks.

Learn more about me, what I’ve accomplished on the council, and how you can support our movement to create a Somerville for all.

Donate to Willie Burnley Jr for Somerville City Council

In keeping with these values, our campaign will reject money from:

  • Fossil fuel executives, lobbyists, or PACs

  • Those working for the carceral state (cops, constables, sheriffs, parole officers, ICE agents, etc)

  • The charter school industry

  • For-profit real estate developers

Instead, we will build this movement with love, sweat equity, and (yes) the donations of everyday people striving to make our city a stronger, safer, more stable place for all. We need your contributions so that we can contact our neighbors in all parts of the community safely: with masks, hand sanitizer, staff, flyers, literature, yard signs, and more. We will invest those funds into making this a fun and inclusive process so that Somervillians will feel the joy of coming together again, even if we are socially-distanced. Thank you for your support!
